Raggae Star, Buju Banton was convicted today for trying to set up a large cocaine deal a year and a half ago.  The jury came back today with a guilty verdict for Buju Banton.
The Jury took 2 days and more than ten hours to come up with the verdict. He was found guilty of 3 of the 4 charges.

Mark Myrie (Buju Banton’s legal name), was on trial for the accusations that he conspired with two other men to sell large quantities of cocaine. Buju Banton brokered several more drug deals prior to this deal according to a confidential informant. While the defense stated that he was lying just to sound cool.However, in the end, Buju Banton was found guilty for the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and using the wires to facilitate a drug trafficking offense. He was acquitted of attempted possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.Most of the case relied on meetings and phone calls that were videotaped and audiotaped by the informant. The informant was working with the DEA.His two associates pleaded guilty.
