Let see, he has lied to you, has no money of his own, has borrowed money from you (and likely used it to buy drugs) and you say he is wondeful?

You cannot help him. He must want to help himself. The first step is for him to admit he has a problem. Telling you is part of that first step.

Cocaine is very addictive. The best thing you can do for him is to stop helping him feed his addiction. Do not pay his bills, do not lend him money. Tell him he must see an addiction consellor or you will leave him. If you live together, insist that his pay check go directly to you and you give him reasonable spending money, using the rest for joint expenses.

If he refuses, you must keep your word and leave him. Leaving him is the wake up call. If he loves you more than cocaine, he will seek counselling after you leave him. If he loves cocaine more than you, he won’t. And better you should know now which he loves more.

To get him to quit you need to find his bag and cut some Draino in with it. This will deter him from ever doing cocaine again.

It’s a slippery slope, but it might just be early enough to stop him becoming completely addicted.

Most towns have a Cocaine Anonymous Group that meets every night of the week. It is run on a similar basis to Alcoholics Anonymous.

This site will give you information and also where Meetings are held.

They support each other to try to stop relapses happening.

It is very hard to stop doing cocaine. If he is already borrowing money off you to pay his bills then he is probably fairly addicted already.

No more lending money. Say you will support him and try to help him kick this habit, but you are not going to support his habit by lending him money.

I wish you luck. I tried to help someone kick this habit and finally had to admit failure.

He needs to make the decision for himself. You can’t really make someone quit. My mate snorts and knows what he’s doing, and isn’t dependant on it at all, he’s fine otherwise. But if your boyfriend is being silly with it, then put your foot down, explain you’re concerned and you’d prefer it if he were to come off it and offer help doing so, or you should leave him and make sure he knows. Don’t negotiate.

All you can do is talk to him and make him understand that there is no responisblke way to use illegal drugs.

He needs to want to help himself as Katie has noted.

If his use is causing problems, as you have described, he needs to stop and/or seek help.

You should be supportive if he tries to stop. If he doesn’t want to stop, you should stay away from him as he could cause you problems as well.

First, you need to tell him that you can only help him if he tries to help himself. You can try to help him to go to a Drugs Anonymous Meeting. It may help for him to talk to other people.
