are you serious. hes doing cocaine, obviously theres going to be some serious long term effects. liver problem, heart problems, brain problems. and with the morphine he could possibly have nerve problems if he numbs them for too long.

I couldn’t tell ya about the morphine part, but I was a big fan of heroin/cocaine. I would mix them together, commonly called a ’speedball’. It was great fun…until….well…lemme tell ya a story.

If you (er…I mean…your friend…) are anything like me, you will continue mixing powerful drugs for recreation, and your tolerance will increase. Then one day, when you decide that you will ‘push the limits’, you will overdose. I woke up with NO short term memory. This condition lasted about 3 days. VERY DISCONCERTING! I couldn’t remember anything for more than 5 minutes. I’d like to say it scared me straight, but a week later, I overdosed again. That one was my last high.

I would like to note that I was injecting the drugs, not snorting them. But…in the end, you will notice a decrease in mental agility and a definite impact on your finances. I can’t say I’m any happier since I quit (about 2 years ago), but I have more money, and I can think more clearly. So…if it makes ya happy, keep doin’ it. Just know that you WILL have to ‘pay the piper’ one of these days.

Short-term, mainly cardiac — that much cocaine can cause arrhythmias, variant (Prinzmetal’s) angina, and yes, a heart attack or cardiac arrest. The morphine could block the discomfort/pain, one of the many ways speedballs or junk and rails can kill addicts.

Long-term: increased risk of developing and or rupturing existing brain aneurysms.

I have personally cared for patients (in the Intensive Care Unit) who have had brain surgery with remote cocaine use as part of their social history. I have also fought to bring patients back (mostly unsuccessfully) in the Emergency Room with unstable variant angina and dysrhythmias brought on by cocaine (i.v. , snorted … doesn’t seem to matter).

P.S. I’m not judging at all, just letting you know the main dangers I have seen and dealt with first-hand.
