How does marijuana effect someone who is undergoing general anesthesia?

ryan_martinez26 asked:

I’m 22 and having a circumcision done tommorrow. When the anesthesiologist asked me when’s the last time I had smoked marijuana, I told him about a month ago when the truth is I’m an everyday smoker, including today, the day before my surgery. I don’t want to compromise anything, but he seemed to only be concerned with if I had ever done cocaine, which I haven’t. Does anyone know what the risks are, and if I should come forward before the surgery or just not worry about it?

oh yeah let them know so if you are at a too relaxed state they know what they are dealing with. marijuana is already like an anesthetic too much even general could do some harm. relaxing your breathing muscles a little too much there or being more of a hallucinative to you

Marijuana has an affect on heart rate, oxygen carrying capacity of the blood and on blood pressure. Call your surgeon NOW. He will inform the anesthesiologist. He has the right and the need to know if surgery has been compromised.
